Red Knights managed to beat the Nigerian champions Enyimba and reach the final of the African Champions League after a 1-0 victory scored by the exceptional Flavio Amado, El-Ahly missed handful of easy chances, but thank God only one goal was enough to qualify for the final after the goalless draw in Nigeria.
The first half of the game was ended by a goal to nil for El-Ahly scored by Flavio, El-Ahly appeared in an excellent State during the first half and the referee wrongly disallowed a Barakat's goal, also Ahmed Al-Sayed missed an easy goal.
El-Ahly began with a formation consists of Amir AbdulHamid as a goalkeeper ,a defense line of Shadi Mohamed, Wael Gomaa, Ahmed Al-Sayed, sedeek in the right side and Gilberto in the left, at the center, Ahmed Hassan, Hossam Ashour, midfielder Mohamed Barakt, playmaker Mohamed Abou-Treika, and
Striker Flavio Amado.
Ahly started the match strongly as AbuTrika made a wonderful pass to Mohamed Barakat, who was in the front to Enyimba goal to score the first goal but referee disallowed it for offside, although television replays proved that Barakat was not offside.
Flavio scored the only goal when he raised unmarked and head Gilberto’s corner.
El-Ahly returned to dominate again when Barakat's cross passed to Ahmed Alsaid who was in the front of the empty goal but he wasted the easiest chance in the tournament.
With the start of the second half, El-Ahly tried to break the weak Nigerian defense, and it seemed that El-Ahlywas able to score again but Abu Treika, Flavio and Barakat wasted all chances.
Flavio passed to Abu Trika who tried to heel the ball to Barakat, but the nigerian defense saved it , Gilberto tried to send crosses at the direction of Flavio, but the latter has not been able to exploit it.
the magician Manuel Jose substituted Ahmed sedeek by Anis Boujelbene , and hence Mohammed Barakat returned as a back right and Boujelbene beside Ahmed Hassan, Hossam Ashour.
El-Ahly tried to calm things in the middle of playground as Jose substituted Ahmed Hassan by Moawad ,to make Gilberto play in the middle. Barakat tried to start attacks from the right side but without success when Steven Worgu was dangerous on the left side of El-Ahly.
Osama Hosni participated instead of Flavio to kill time and the referee whistled declaring victory and qualification to the final match with Cameroonian cotton to restore the African leadership.
